“Monarch on Echinacea”

Original painting is oil paint on canvas, 16”w x 30”h.

In Summer the garden is the Monarch butterfly’s kitchen.

I find them in groups crowning the Echinacea blossoms,

and also the milkweed in the garden, and many other flowers as well.

They gather in groups, playfully skipping from blossom to blossom,

rising up as I walk among them,

where I become still so they can continue their work as I stand and take it all in,

while they orbit my head among the flowers.
