In the Autumn of 2021 two otters moved into the three little ponds in Evergreen Cemetery in Portland.

Before this I had only seen otters move swiftly from a great distance, more magic than real.

These particular otters were easy to see, totally uninhibited around us humans,

and such sheer delight to watch.

They felt like my familiars, always there when I needed a reminder of magic turned real.
