It is a carnivorous plant whose flowers grace our bogs in latest Spring.

Sometimes I have gotten lucky enough to get to the Orono Bog

when there are many of these in flower,

their red flowers towering above other bog plants,

their petals waving in the breeze like flags in a parade.
