Tigridia is a little bulb that spends the winter hanging from a rafter alongside the garlic bulbs.

In early summer I replant them out in the garden

and wait until mid-August for these lovely big loud flowers,

which only bloom for a day,

but the blossoms are plentiful and seem to laugh out loud for a good month.
